This notice covers the Sun Hours solar calculator and its ChatGPT plugin, operated by Andy. The mobile app has its own privacy notice.
What you choose to share
You choose a UK postcode or latitude and longitude, system capacity and an assumed loss percentage. These are used to look up historical sunlight and calculate seasonal solar potential. No inverter account, meter login, email address or payment details are needed.
Who receives the information
UK postcode lookups go to Postcodes.io. Selected coordinates, rounded to four decimal places, go to NASA POWER. System capacity and losses are calculated on our service, hosted by Cloudflare. We do not request your ChatGPT conversation or send it to these providers.
In ChatGPT, your selected location name, an authenticated location reference and panel assumptions are shared with the host to support follow-up questions. The location reference contains coordinates and expires after 24 hours. OpenAI may retain conversation and tool results under its own policies.
Storage and service operation
The calculator creates no account or lasting location profile. It caches sunlight responses in bounded server memory for reuse for up to 24 hours; expired entries are removed on later requests or when the server instance is recycled. It does not save your postcode or calculation history to a database.
Cloudflare processes network requests and provides service metrics and abuse protection. The application uses a shared request counter rather than storing client identifiers for rate limiting. Application operational logs record only event names and success or failure. Automatic request invocation logs are disabled. Cloudflare retains operational logs for up to seven days depending on the account plan. Our application does not include advertising or behavioural analytics. Providers process requests under their own policies.
Your choices
You can choose approximate coordinates instead of a postcode. Close the calculator to stop using it; references expire automatically. For questions or privacy requests, email support@sunhours.app. If you send a support message, its contents will be used to respond to you.
